Welcome to West Loop
Transformed former industrial area with excellent dining.
West Loop is a former industrial area stretching from Ashland Avenue in the west to the Chicago River in the east. Recent decades have seen West Loop’s warehouses transformed into trendy bars and restaurants, stylish living spaces, art galleries, and offices for companies such as Google and Mcdonald's. Randolph Street is known as Chicago’s Restaurant Row for its concentration of exceptional eateries. Fulton Market is similarly packed with great places to dine and drink. West Loop also contains the bustling year-round Chicago French Market and lively Greektown with traditional tavernas and authentic pastry shops. This diverse neighborhood is dotted with parks and greenspace.

West Loop has been transformed from a forgotten area of disused warehouses into one of Chicago’s most dynamic neighborhoods. From corporate headquarters to world-class restaurants, West Loop has a huge amount to offer. There are also plenty of community parks to relax in on sunny days.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Randolph Street is lined with some of Chicago’s most revered chef-driven restaurants. Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard’s Girl and the Goat has won rave reviews for their artful and inventive cuisine. A large section of the menu is dedicated to dishes prepared with goats. Specialties include goat empanadas and confit goat belly served with lobster and crab. These items share the menu with flavorful entrees such as calamari bruschetta and wood oven roasted pig face. Try the signature miso-butterscotch budino for dessert.
Other highlights along Restaurant Row include refined Italian fare at industrial-chic Bar Siena, Mexican-influenced pub grub and craft beer at celeb chef Rick Bayless’ Cruz Blanca Brewery & Taqueria, seasonal tapas and sangria at Nia, and exquisite Japanese sushi and small plates at the Michelin Guide-featured Sushi Dokku. For drinks, head to Randolph Street’s inviting Lone Wolf Tavern for classic cocktails and craft beer. The converted warehouses around Fulton Market host a hip assortment of gourmet coffee shops, trendy breweries, chic cocktail lounges, and live music venues. Standouts among Fulton Market’s thriving dining scene include Mediterranean cuisine served on a beautifully designed rooftop at Aba, mouthwatering Texas-style BBQ at Green Street Smoked Meats, and a dining experience like nowhere else at theatrical Roister. Chicago French Market is a must-visit foodie destination featuring dozens of vendors offering eclectic global eats.
Things to Do
Just west of West Loop, the United Center is home to the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. This world-class arena also hosts other sporting events and concerts by superstar acts. Past performers include Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, and countless other major names. In April, Taste of Randolph takes over six blocks along Randolph Street for three days of live music with food from Restaurant Row’s premier eateries. In August, Taste of Greektown is a great way to sample the authentic Hellenic eats of West Loop’s Greektown neighborhood.
Greektown’s National Hellenic Museum features fascinating exhibits on Greek and Greek-American culture and history. West Loop has several neighborhood parks. 13.77-acre Union Park is packed with sports facilities including football and soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, and an outdoor swimming pool.
